China’s digital education market exceeded £7.6bn in 2012, with year-on-year growth of over 20%, a new British Council study has found. However, key challenges remain for foreign firms looking to enter the market.

All forms and applications of digital technology in education are covered in the report, with growth areas identified as home-schooling, vocational training online, E-books and digital textbooks, digital note taking and cloud computing, course management systems, teacher training, and children’s education software.

This report points the way forward for UK firms by highlighting a number of investment and partnership opportunities, although the key to a successful strategy in China’s online education market will combine not only ‘know how,’ but also ‘knowing how’.
