Higher Education Providers (HEPs) are invited to express their interest to participate in a further, and final, round of the scholarship scheme for those with links to Afghanistan in the UK - the Warm Welcome Scholarship. The scheme is funded by the Department of Education (DfE) and delivered by the British Council.
Up to 300 scholarships in total will be awarded to individuals who have been resettled from Afghanistan under the ARAP/ACAS schemes, and who are currently resident in the UK. The scholarship is to enable them to study courses at undergraduate, taught masters and PhD level. The final intake for the scheme is for students commencing their studies in January/February 2023 academic year.
Government funding will cover scholar stipend payments for accommodation and living expenses. Participating HEPs are expected to waive tuition and any other course fees for scholars.
More information on the scheme is available here and includes:
- An initial expression of interest form for HEPs who would like to offer scholarship places for the January intake – closes on 7th October
- A nomination form for HEPs to indicate which named scholars they would like to support – closes on the 30th October
