'This page has information for potential UK applicants. For applicants from India, please visit our British Council India web page’
The British Council in India with the approval of the Government of India has launched the call for the Going Global Partnership grant. UK institutions are invited to bid for funds to initiate teaching learning collaborations. The grant opportunity has been promoted in India through the Ministry of Education website notification and we are receiving an overwhelming response from Indian higher education institutions. We are putting out this call to gauge UK universities interest in applying for the grant or setting up partnerships for further collaboration.
Two types of grants will be awarded under the Going Global Partnerships Grants
Exploratory Grants - This will support nascent partnerships that require assistance to create strong plans for TNE (Transnational Education) and teaching collaborations. Awardees will jointly develop courses that meet global standards and allow easy credit comparability. The grant may be given to a consortium of up to four UK and Indian institutional partnerships.
There will be scope within the grant to secure consultancy services from ENIC, QAA, and others or deploy resources towards developing joint and collaborative teaching programmes at both undergraduate and graduate levels within the subject of interest. In the 2021-22 financial year, we anticipate awarding approximately ten grants between £15,000 to £20,000.
Collaboration Grants - This will be awarded to pre-existing partners to expand the scope of work to include joint and collaborative teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Like the Exploratory grants, the key objective will be the development of a teaching and collaboration model, and a course or module that contributes towards UK and India bachelor’s or master’s qualifications.
The partners will be able to secure consultancy services from the UK service providers such as ENIC, QAA, and others. They will additionally be able to earmark a part of the grant to give TNE bursaries or scholarships to students to enable them to experience the UK education. A proposal for implementing learning within the state system through incentives, dissemination workshops or any other indication of systemic support will be desirable. In the 2021-22 financial year, we anticipate awarding two to three grants between the value of £30,000 to £100,000 each.
Find out more about the selection criteria, how to apply, and conditions for applying here.
If you would like to explore any of the below listed opportunities, please contact the relevant person given against the opportunity for facilitating the links to the universities in the thematic or geographic areas.
We are not able to guarantee that the partners in India will be suitable or will lead to a successful grant. We are trying to facilitate the creation of new partnerships in emerging areas and new disciplines. UK HEIs will need to make an application and then follow the process of evaluation.
