About Trincomalee Campus

The Trincomalee Campus functioned as an Affiliated University College (AUC) operating under the umbrella of affiliated colleges funded by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka in the early nineties to help young people who did not have access to conventional universities. At the beginning, the Trincomalee Affiliated University College conducted two diploma programmes: Diploma in English and Diploma in Accountancy and Finance under the supervision of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and subsequently under the supervision of the Eastern University, Sri Lanka. After the affiliated university college system was abolished, Trincomalee AUC functioned under the Eastern University of Sri Lanka.

Trincomalee  campus received  its identity as Trincomalee Campus of the Eastern University Sri Lanka, through a government gazette notification in 2001, with the provision for two faculties: Faculty of Communication & Business Studies and Faculty of Applied Science. From 2008 onwards, the discipline of Siddha medicine has also been introduced under the direct purview of the Rector of the Campus.

Quality Assurance Council of the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka ensures that the Eastern University operates in line with Sri Lankan Qualification Framework (SLQF) and academic standards and accreditation.
