Pakistan is currently under partial lockdown with a suspension on in-person classes and examinations till July 2020. This Covid-19 pandemic has forced education institutions across Pakistan to shift towards online learning. Home learning, online learning, e-learning and webinars are the buzzwords and realities of the day for students in Pakistan.
The number of international students from Pakistan to the UK has increased by 66% in the last 05 years; there was a 10% increase in the number of students between 2017 and 2018 intakes. With the announcement and confirmation of Graduate Immigration Route, we believe the number of students from Pakistan to the UK will increase over the next few years.
About the webinars
Our student survey has shown that half of Pakistani students are still keen on going abroad but understandably, they are anxious about their immediate plans for studying abroad and it is important to maintain engagement and communication channels open with them during these difficult times. This British Council series of webinars will provide UK HEIs an opportunity to revamp their communications, engage with prospective students across Pakistan and to raise their profile by delivering virtual lectures / workshops/ webinars and promotions.

- to position the UK as preferred destination for higher students among education institutions and students in Pakistan – especially for students who have applied for this year and the next
- to recruit and influence students for 2020 and 2021 terms through virtual engagement
- to promote undergraduate courses and scholarship opportunities to prospective students interested in studying in the UK
- opportunity for participating UK institutions to raise their brand visibility, recall and engagement through webinar
- opportunity to speak about the UK’s excellent health care and Covid19 response by UK HEIs highlighting health and safety measures

*Audience for webinar will be the prospective students from premium schools in Pakistan and each webinar will have an audience between 25-50 from renowned educational institutions of Pakistan renowned for international students’ mobility.

- Introduction by the British Council
- Short introduction of the HEI by HEI representative
- Webinar/ session by HEI representative
- Q/A session
- Vote of thanks by British Council
- Running order and content can be tweaked as per needs of participating UK HEI and local institution/s
- After the webinar, British Council will send a note-of-thanks (email) to the students and local institution who attended and sharing UK HEI’s email or data-collection link enabling UK HEIs to directly collect students’ data adhering to GDPR rules.
Mode of webinar delivery
We will facilitate the webinar/s between the UK and local institutions through an online webinar tool. Through these webinars, the UK institutions get a platform to interact and engage directly with prospective students from local institutions.
The topic and theme of each webinar will be agreed in consultation with local school or college. British Council will share tentative number of audience (approx. 30- 50) and profile of the local institution/s with participating UK HEI prior to the actual webinar session.
