Why TNE in Europe?
The British Council's research into TNE opportunities in 2023 found that the demand for UK transnational education in Europe is very healthy, with especially high interest in Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Malta, Portugal and Spain. However, there were multiple challenges, many of them related to the UK's departure from the European Union.
It is a priority of the British Council in Europe to support UK institutions in overcoming those barriers and realising the vast opportunities on offer from TNE in Europe. In addition to the significant benefits for the UK institutions, our research in 2021 into the local impact of transnational education showed that TNE was also very positive for local students and their communities.
