British Council Azerbaijan in cooperation with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan is pleased to announce a request for proposals for interested UK higher education institutions (universities/colleges) to host and provide a full range service of the training delivery to 10 secondary school teachers from Azerbaijan during 5 days on contemporary methodology of ELT. Please refer to “Terms of Reference” attached for more information.
Title of the project: “Teacher for the 21st century”

Background information on the project:
British Council Azerbaijan has been working with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan since 2008 in the area of English language teachers’ professional development and is implementing several joint projects for secondary school teachers of English language. “Teacher for the 21st century” is one of the joint projects of British Council Azerbaijan with the Ministry of Education in Azerbaijan. The goal of the project is to improve the quality of English language teaching in fifty pilot state-run secondary schools in Baku by introducing contemporary teacher-training methodology. This year about 400 English language teachers have gone through intensive teacher training. Ten selected teachers from secondary schools of Azerbaijan and representatives of British Council Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic will be travelling for a study tour in the UK to get high quality training on contemporary ELT methodology. The study tour is planned for March 22 – 30, 2015.
Selection procedure:
All submitted proposals will be reviewed by BC Azerbaijan. The 3 top proposals will be selected and contacted by February 5th for more information on details of the proposal and skype/telephone interviews will be held together with British Council’s regional office and final decision on a selected UK higher education institution will be made and announced by February 16th.
Selection criteria:
• high-quality programme proposed by the institution
• experience of the institution in teacher training/ELT methodology/education
• meeting of all needs and requirements outlined in Terms of Reference document
• cost-effectiveness of the proposal
