Overview
The Suzhou Education Bureau requires 2 experienced foreign ELT trainers to deliver F2F English Teacher CPD programmes to four cohorts of teachers from Primary and Junior Middle Schools in the Suzhou area. In total, each cohort will receive three days of consecutive training. Materials may be re-used.

Benefits for the UK partner
The UK partner will:

  • have the opportunity to potentially develop other collaboration with the Education Bureau  including, but not limited to, consultancy services on arts curriculum design, capacity building and teaching pedagogy
  • have the opportunity (when practical) to send trainer(s) to China to teach as part of future summer camps, which may help raise awareness of English teaching and learning programmes of the UK institution, benefitting future student recruitment
  • receive financial reimbursement for the design and delivery of the training

Training Content

Relevant CPD training and support for teachers teaching in large classes within the Chinese public education system through experiential and engaging workshops.

Consideration should be given to the relevant context, creating practical ideas for incorporating global core competencies into English lessons and how teachers might develop more holistic teaching practices.

Light needs analysis with participants and SEB leaders can be conducted by the training provider to clarify specific needs.

Trainer 1 should focus on the primary cohorts and trainer 2 should focus on the junior high cohorts. Both will deliver training in parallel, as below. In terms of the no. of days between deliveries the client is open for discussion, but the training must be finished by the 10th of July 2021 at the latest.

Requirements

Trainer candidates should:

Essential:

  • Be in China.
  • Have a relevant Diploma in TESOL (or Higher-level qualification)
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of teacher training experience.
  • Have the ability to design workshops and materials from the bottom up and meet the objectives set by Suzhou Education Bureau

Desired:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Chinese education system at primary and junior high levels

Contracting party

Organisational contract with Suzhou Education Bureau, Suzhou[1].

  • Contract 1: for primary cohorts (2)
  • Contract 2: for junior high cohorts (2)

Finance

Total budget approved for the four cohorts: 177,600RMB (50% for primary and 50% for junior high) to cover:

  • Trainers’ travel and insurance
  • Trainers’ accommodation
  • Trainers’ subsistence
  • Training fee (including light needs analysis, delivery and reporting)
  • Training materials
  • Training certificates
  • Organisational management fees

 

Note: The total budget will remain the same regardless of any days used for breaks between different cohorts. Lunch will be provided to trainers and working staff on training days.
