In the academic year 2014/15, most Thai universities will change their university semesters. The new academic year will start in August and end in late May. Students will have a final examination by end of May. They expect to receive the examination result in June. The formal graduation document or transcript will be ready in August.
This big change may affect student recruitment from Thailand to UK universities, especially with Master’s degree courses. There are quite a few Thai students who have received a conditional offer and have to travel to the UK early to attend a pre-sessional course.
The British Council is aware of concerns from UK universities and would like to find the best solution to ensure the student recruitment market in Thailand will not be affected.
According to conversations with some UK universities, to enable students to complete their pre-sessional courses when they are in Thailand and before their graduation can be one of the solutions.
British Council Thailand would like to ask for co-operation from UK institutions by answering a short survey at
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/presessionalThailand2014 to give us some ideas to address this challenge. We would like to hear from as many as UK institutions as possible, including those who are not concerned about this change.
Your response by 28 July will be most appreciated.
