The Shakhmardan Yessenov Science and Education Foundation is looking for British universities to partner up with under the “Summer internships in UK research laboratories” program.
The foundation provides full grants for selected talented Kazakhstani students in natural sciences and engineering.
Total number of interns: 10
Duration of internship: 3 summer months
Current partner: Open University
Benefits for partner universities: promising and hard-working students who will assist professors within 3 months period on free basis.
Benefits for Kazakhstani students: skills of working in top research laboratories and higher chance for being accepted to PhD program.
Areas of responsibility for the two collaborating parties
The UK partners will be expected to:
• Provide a list of professors with the description of their research projects
• Hold a final stage of selection process (application assessment or interviews)
• Accept and lead the students during the internship
The foundation is responsible for:
• Announcement of the competition and gathering applications
• First stage selection process (application assessment)
• Provision of grants (covers a round-trip international travel, accommodation, meals, visa, insurance)
The selection criteria of the students will be discussed and agreed upon by both parties.
