UK higher education and research institutions that wish to participate as host institutions for the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM are invited to submit an expression of interest. This is an excellent of opportunity for UK institutions to attract talented female students from around the world and narrow the gender gap in STEM fields.
The British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM support women from eligible countries to develop their academic skills in the UK.
Two types of opportunity are available
- Funding for Master’s degree scholarships
- Funding for Early Academic Fellowship opportunities (S. Asia and E. Asia only)
This is the second edition of the Women in STEM programme. The scholarship scheme was launched last year, seeing grants awarded to 19 UK universities. The first cohort of women are starting in September 2021.
The Early Academic Fellowship grants are new this year. They are for women who have recently been awarded their PhD (0-12 months postdoctoral) and wish to have a research experience at a UK university or research institution.
We are now opening the call for UK institutions to host the next cohort of students in September 2022.
Eligibility
