Last year during the Going Global 2011 conference, David Willets MP, Minister of State for Universities and Science agreed that the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills would continue to fund the Scholarships for Excellence programme for a further three years. Time flies and Scholarships for Excellence 2012-2013 (SfE) is NOW open for application!

The Scholarships for Excellence, each worth up to £4,000, are funded by the Department for Innovation Universities & Skills for students studying in higher education institutions in England* to spend from a semester up to a year studying in Hong Kong as part of their degrees. Students can experience the vibrant East-West lifestyle of the former British territory and now Special Administrative Region of China, and learn about a region of vital economic and cultural importance to the UK.

*The Scholarships for Excellence are funded by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). Because the Devolved Administrations (DAs) have separate funding for higher education, the scholarships are currently available for students studying at universities in England only.
