The British Council is the programme delivery partner for the Newton Fund specifically for the people pillar.
The British Council in Indonesia is working in partnership with a number of relevant Indonesian government organisations and funding bodies to deliver programmes that benefit Indonesian researchers. At the moment, the Newton Fund Indonesia is the official partner for Indonesia Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (MRTHE) to deliver UK-Indonesia Science & Technology Fund. This partnership was launched on 23rd of March 2016.
About Newton Institutional Links -KLN/INSINAS
Grants for establishing links between higher education, research institutions and businesses with the aim of translating research to drive economic development and social welfare in partner countries.
Newton Fund with the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education opens the opportunity to support the joint research translation work that led by Indonesia – UK universities/research institutions. To also support the quality of Indonesia research, expected output of the project is international publication.
Benefits
Successful applicants will be granted the proposed funding to implement joint multi-years project with the Indonesia counterpart
Proposal Value : GBP 70,000 – GBP 120,000 (if the value worth more than GBP 70,000, the proposal requires additional match funding from applicant, match funding can be demonstrated in the form of in-kind or sponsor from third party)
How to participate
Please check your Indonesia partner's status, For UK applicants partnering with:
• Indonesia State Universities (please follow MRTHE’s programme KLN). Parallel applications through BC system and MRTHE’s system should be followed. There are two applications must be submitted (application must be identical):
a. Joint proposal (UK and Indonesia institutions) should be sent through British Council’s online application and
b. Indonesia lead applicant responsible for applying through MRTHE’s online application (KLN)
• Indonesian Private Universities/Research Institutions/any other eligible institutions (please follow MRTHE’s programme INSINAS). Parallel applications through BC system and MRTHE’s system should be followed. There are two applications must be submitted (application must be identical):
a. Joint proposal (UK and Indonesia institutions) should be sent through British Council’s online application and
b. Indonesia lead applicant responsible for applying through MRTHE’s online application (INSINAS)
