UK institutions are invited to contribute to a recommended course list as part of a new capacity-building programme for Korean civil servants.
Call for courses
The British Council in Korea is delivering the government-funded Korea-UK LINK (Learn, Innovate, Network through Knowledge) programme, which aims to build the capacity of Korea’s civil servants.
As part of this, we are aiming to dentify two-year full-time programmes (up to 22 months) comprising a master’s degree and professional placements provided by UK higher education institutions.
There is no restriction on the course subject, but it should include an element of public policy or science (ICT, technology, or innovation) that reflects current trends.
The British Council in Korea will compile and share a list of recommended programmes with Korean government ministries, from which each applicant can choose and apply
Introduction to the LINK programme
Korea-UK LINK (Learn, Innovate, Network through Knowledge) partially succeeds the Chevening Scholarship programme, provided in partnership with Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT.
It supports 10-13 government officials each year to spend up to 22 months in the UK to pursue a master’s degree and complete placements in relevant sector organisations.
The British Council in Korea facilitates the application process, designs and delivers pre-departure training, arranges additional field visits and networking events in the UK during academic breaks, and co-ordinates alumni engagement programmes after their return to Korea.
Payment of tuition fees will also be managed by the British Council office in the UK. This programme will run until December 2026, following a contract renewal in January 2024 with a 3-year commitment and a strong likelihood of extension.
If your institution offers relevant programmes and is interested in being included in the list of recommended programmes, please complete the table below and email education@britishcouncil.or.kr by 15 December 2024, 24.00 GMT.
