We feel that the relationship with Russian journalists is very important for us in maintaining the high profile of British education in Russia. Therefore we are planning to organize a press visit to UK institutions in the end of May 2012. We're planning to send four journalists from the leading general interest and business media organisations with strong website presences in Russia and with an interest in education, accompanied by one member of British Council staff.
Through this mission, we aim to promote awareness and develop a greater understanding of UK education amongst potential students and their parents. Our objective is to promote all aspects of study in the UK at each level of education. We also aim to promote individual institutions who will be taking part in this activity. After the visit the journalists will publish the materials about each institution visited. Publications are expected in September as part of the Education UK Exhibition promotion campaign. The approximate PR value of these publications is £51,000. The list of participating newspapers and magazines will be available shortly.
The participation fee is £1,094 which will cover the direct costs of this visit. Each hosting institution is also expected to provide accommodation for one night for the group of 5 people, transfer from/to railway stations if applicable, and we would be grateful if lunch during the visit could be provided as well. We would also be grateful if institutions who are interested in hosting the press visit would arrange the visit activities in their institution - suggested activities include campus tour, meetings with staff, and if you have students from Russia, meetings with these students.
The group will visit six institutions.
We think that this is a great opportunity to promote your institution. If you would like to join the project, please email Elizaveta Utolina at elizaveta.utolina@britishcouncil.ru
The deadline for applications is 1st May 2012. If you would like to have more detailed information on last year's press-tour, please let us know.
