The Qatar national curriculum exam results will be published in the W/C July 7th 2014. British Council Qatar encourages institutions to visit Qatar in the W/C 13th July 2014. It is the perfect time to meet with potential students from Qatar, who are still looking for a university place for 2014/2015, and who will have their exams results in hand. Many Qataris seek face-to-face meetings and on-the-spot admissions, and do not have access to agent services. The majority of Qataris will remain in Qatar in July as this coincides with the holy month of Ramadan. It would be the last opportunity to meet with potential students as the majority will leave the country for summer holidays after Eid (starting from 27th July).

Background:
Statistics show that there is a high demand for degree courses in the UK, especially at an undergraduate level within Engineering and Business & Management subject areas. Many Qatari students receive scholarships from the government and employers.

The UK remains a preferred destination for students from Qatar. In 2013, there was an increase of 16% in the number of students from Qatar studying in the UK from the previous year (HESA, 2014). Of those students, about three-quarters are pursuing undergraduate degrees and roughly one quarter is pursuing postgraduate degrees.

The British Council will run an intensive Education UK campaign through social and print media. The campaign will run from 19th June until mid-July to encourage potential students to consider the UK as a study destination.

Objective:
Our aim is to offer the opportunity to institutions to meet with potential students from Qatar directly after the announcement of Year 12 results. Students should be able to provide all entry requirements needed and will be looking at getting on-the-spot offers for 2014/2015 academic year, with the majority applying for an international foundation year.
