The British Council is collaborating with the Sri Lanka Association of Non-State sector Higher Education Institutes (SLANSHEI) to organise the country's first transnational education (TNE) conference.
The conference will bring together academics, policymakers and strategists to facilitate discussions and exchanges on challenges and topics related to transnational education, within an ever-changing global context.
Conference aims
- To present key contributions made by TNE to the higher education in Sri Lanka.
- To bring together TNE education providers to share their views, experiences and vision for the future of TNE, including academics and scholars from key UK and international TNE partner universities, Sri Lankan academics from both state and non-state sectors, and key stakeholders from quality assurance agencies in Sri Lanka.
- To promote a robust and inclusive quality assurance and accreditation mechanism for TNE in Sri Lanka.
The keynote speech will be delivered by Dr Aneta Hayes, Dean of Internationalisation, Keele University, and Chair of the Evaluation and Monitoring Group for Universities UK International.
Dr Athula Pitigala-Arachchi, CEO (International), Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), will provide insights on TNE in Sri Lanka.
The event will include the following sessions.
- TNE and World Class Qualifications: an in-depth discussion on the global relevance and value of TNE qualifications.
- Panel discussion: 'Towards a robust and inclusive quality assurance and accreditation mechanism'.
- Introduction to the process of delivering a TNE programme: uncover the value addition to the health industry through TNE.
- Quality assurance in TNE provisions: explore a selection of best practices.
- Unique graduate outcomes and research collaborations: how TNE fosters innovative research and graduate success.
- Panel discussion: 'Creating a global hub for education in Sri Lanka through TNE'.
