The British Council Thailand is pleased to invite UK educational institutions in all sectors to host the March 2019 Familiarisation Trip for educational agents and school counsellors from Thailand.
Dates and details of the Fam Trips 2019
18 – 22 March 2019 — Educational Agents Fam Trip
This trip focuses on institutions offering pre-university programmes, including boarding schools, further education colleges, private schools and colleges. Over the past five years, there has been increasing demand from Thai students wishing to enrol on pathway programmes in the UK. According to UKVI, the number of Thai students going to study in the UK under Tier 4 Child Visa also increased by 20% per cent in 2017 compared to the previous year. Therefore, more educational agents are interested in promoting pre-university programmes. Higher education institutes or universities still looking for new agents to represent their programmes are also welcomed to act as hosts.
18 – 22 March 2019 — School Counsellors Fam Trip
A group of school counsellors will be selected for the trip from a mix of international schools and Thai schools with students interested in studying abroad. Thailand is one of the fastest growing countries in South East Asia with the highest number of international schools. According to HESA, the number of students from Thailand on undergraduate programmes in the UK also increased by 10 per cent in 2016/17.
25 – 29 March 2019 — Educational Agents and Thai Universities Fam Trip (Summer Schools)
The short-term English programme market is the second largest after master’s degree courses for Thai students studying in the UK. The peak time for Thai students taking a short-term English course overseas is from March to May.
However, the increasing number of international schools in Thailand and the Thai university summer holiday changing from April/May to June/August has created greater demand for students from Thailand to attend short-term summer courses in July/August, both from juniors at international schools and students at Thai universities aged 18+.
This Fam trip is designed to provide opportunities for UK institutions to promote their summer school programmes to potential agents. There might also be delegates from Thai universities interested in sending their students to UK summer schools participating in the trip.
How agents and school counsellors are selected
Each trip can accommodate six to eight agents or school counsellors. They will be carefully selected to ensure their potential and commitment to promote the institutions visited. A meeting with groups of agents and counsellors will be conducted every two months.
Participation fee
The participation fee is £1,250 plus VAT. This will include accommodation in the UK, domestic travel costs for agents and counsellors, and a British Council management fee for co-coordinating and managing the programme.
