Yunnan, which refers to 'the place south of the colourful clouds', is the most southwest province of China and borders Vietnam, Laos and Burma. It is a land of various ethnic groups, landscapes, natural scenery, creatures, etc. There are 83 higher education institutions and 1.6 million higher education students in Yunnan.

To better promote educational exchange and cooperation between Yunnan and the UK, British Consulate General in Chongqing and Yunnan Provincial Department of Education signed a 3-year MOU in 2021, covering all sectors of education, including higher education.
