Led by Universities UK President Professor Janet Beer and joined by British Council Head of Education and Society Dr Jo Beall and Universities UK International Director Vivienne Stern, this delegation will focus on exploring international research collaboration and developing an MoU between UK and Japanese Universities.
Taiwan
The focus of the visit to Taiwan shall be a Global Education Dialogue exploring international research collaboration between the UK and nations of industrialised East Asia. The Dialogue shall have a subject focus on the following areas: Healthcare and medicines, Robotics and artificial intelligence and Clean and flexible energy Participants are welcome to participate in the whole programme (planned activity from Wednesday 3 January to Friday 5 January) or just for the Global Education Dialogue on Friday 5 January. The programme shall include engagement with senior representatives of academia and industry, an institutional visit to the National Tsing Hua University and alumni engagement events.
Japan
The focus of the visit to Japan shall be to progress the MoU between Universities UK and the Japanese Association of National Universities (JANU) in order to enable greater collaboration between both sectors in the following areas: Policy exchange, Staff and student mobility and Collaborative research funding. Activity shall take place on Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 January. In addition to discussion with the JANU leadership, the programme shall include institutional visits engagement with UK representatives and researchers in country. Please note that there shall be a break of three days, Saturday 6 to Monday 8 January, in which there shall be no scheduled activity.
Participation in the Taiwan programme is limited to Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Vice-Chancellor and participation in the Japanese programme is limited to Vice-Chancellor.
