British Council Thailand is organising a training scheme for 40 Thai students going to study in the UK under the Royal Thai Government Scholarships scheme. We are looking for academics from UK institutions to deliver the programme in Thailand.
Please see the following for details of the programme:
Programme Title
“Advanced Academic Skills and UK University Experience: Learning from Lecturers and PhD Supervisors from UK Universities”
Programme Content
The programme is aimed at providing students with real experience of teaching methods, learning styles and research methodology at UK universities. Students expect to learn from professors or lecturers currently working at UK universities and therefore their knowledge and techniques need to be up-to-date and readily applicable for study in the UK.
Students are expected to be given tasks or assignments and should receive feedback from trainers on a regular basis.
Course content should include:
Studying and learning styles at UK universities: developing links with a supervisor, getting the most out of lectures, and a variety of advanced academic skills e.g. reading academic materials, using a library at a UK university, and so on.
Dissertations and theses: developing a research proposal into a thesis or dissertation, writing a paper, how to choose a dissertation topic, and so on.
The Real Experience: Mock lecture and Doctoral Viva exercises.
