Our student survey with Indian students showed 67% students were ‘very concerned’ about their health and safety when it came to studying abroad and in the UK in 2020. This is fairly significant for Indian students as in a pre-covid19 world, concerns around health and safety, while always present, wouldn’t be top priority.
To ensure Indian students feel confident about going to the UK this year (or early next year once travel resumes) and parents feel reassured about their children’s care in the UK, we are launching a 6 week long Facebook campaign for Indian students on ‘Health and safety measures on UK HEI campuses’ where we will do a series of student features and posts on how UK HEIs have so far supported their students and what plans they have to ensure international student safety during the pandemic.
We have hosted two Facebook Lives in the last one month on the British Council India Facebook page by UKVI and BUILA and both have seen a large number of questions, concerns and comments around health and safety, support for students during Covid19 and what new students can expect from the UK HEI in terms of student care when they arrive in the UK. There were also many clarifications requested around UK HEI support for students with quarantining and arrival on campus as well as travelling with dependants.
The posts can be around the following themes:
- Covid19 support extended to Indian students in the last 5 months (hardship allowances, mental health support etc)
- Curriculum and academic support to international students during the last few months – what does success look like here?
- Measures you will take to ensure new students arriving on UK campuses will be supported and cared for
- Measures you will take to ensure students are supported with their studies during the crisis
Campaign details:
- The campaign will run from 1 July to 15 August.
- Two UK HEIs will feature each week with 2 boosted posts each.
- Facebook continues to be the most popular and accessible social media platform for students and parents, and we have over 70K Indian followers on the Study UK Facebook page.
- We expect to get a reach of 10K -50K for each UK HEI.
- Each UK HEI campaign will run two boosted posts for one week
