Education Intelligence released a new report, Parent perspectives – Sending Korean students abroad for school, which examines preferences for study destination, the factors driving a decision to send a child abroad to study school and those which may determine the choice of host country.
Parents in South Korea have long placed a high value on education. Despite the excellent performance of Korean school students in international tests, many parents want their children to experience a more well-rounded education and be better equipped for a global labour market, and so look abroad. In this research parents in South Korea were asked their views on the relative importance of issues such as academic quality, safety, access to the university of choice, location of family and friends and tuition costs. Questions also focused on the support services students should have, and parents’ concerns in relation to the school application and visa processes, the general study environment and how their children would adapt. This report uses these findings to make some recommendations about marketing messages and methods.
This series of reports is now available for purchase at the Education Intelligence online store.
