The British Council in the Gulf is launching new alumni networks in Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, UAE, Saudi and Bahrain as part of a new set of programmes that aim to step up our engagement with the next generation in the Gulf. We will be expanding our education, science, arts and entrepreneurship offer and the Gulf-UK alumni groups will form a key part of these new networks. If you feel that your alumni would benefit from being part of these wider networks, we would be grateful if you could direct alumni to the registration pages and inform them of our upcoming events.
You can find registration links and alumni project manager e-mails by country below:

To help you spread the word we have also put together a social media pack with images (available upon request), posts and tweets you can use on the social media networks you use to communicate with your alumni. Please check specific British Council country websites for details about forthcoming alumni events.
You could do this by, for example:
- Sending e-mail shots targeting your GCC alumni
- Putting the message about our new network out on your social media channels
We’re hoping to work very closely with UK institutions so that this project is mutually beneficial.
The primary objective of alumni engagement is to tap into the good will of alumni to share their experiences of studying in the UK/at a UK university with the next generation. Some other benefits of supporting this project include:
• Opportunity to connect with estranged alumni. This year is a “pilot” year, but as from next year, UK institutionns will be able to participate in our events and network with their alumni that connect to our network.
• Chance to add British Council alumni events to your Gulf schedules: offer your alumni fully funded activities and events free of charge– including professional development courses and networking events
• New partnership and sponsorship opportunities for your institution – through supporting our talks, courses and events.
Alumni can also be a gateway to greater collaborations between their country and the UK in science, education, sports and many other areas. At the same time, our programme will offer clear benefits to alumni who will get to attend our networking events, UK speaker series and professional development courses at no cost.
Please contact Alliyah Choudhury Alliyah.Choudhury@qa.britishcouncil.org our regional project manager or Sophie.Partarrieu@britishcouncil.org our Gulf communications Manager, for any more details.
PLEASE PROMOTE OUR NETWORKS VIA EMAIL AND SOCIAL MEDIA TO YOUR GCC NATIONAL ALUMNI IF YOU THINK THIS OPPORTUNITY IS OF INTEREST
