The British Council in the Philippines is looking for UK university or institution partners for the Look of Style Awards 2014.
The fashion competition is on its 5th year and is delivered in partnership with the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s LOOK Magazine. Last year, the competition started having two categories —fashion design and accessories design. An open call is made in August and then three regional selections are set—one for each island group. Ten finalists for each category are selected and then invited to the finals night in Manila in November, where they also get advice and mentoring from UK academics.
The theme for this year is Maria Clara, a Filipino female icon similar to Britain’s Queen Elizabeth. The finals night is tentatively scheduled on Wednesday, November 12.
The media partner ensures substantial media mileage for the event and the partners; estimated at GBP 15,000 in media and PR value last year. The UK university partner in 2013 hosted a weeklong course for the winner and some finalists of the accessories category. We would like to have at least two (2) UK institution partners, one for each category.
Participation Cost
Major Partner – GBP 3000
The UK partner will host the winner of one of the two categories at the institution for a short course or mentoring programme up to a week. British Council Philippines will cover visa fees, return flights to and accommodation in the UK for one winner per partner institution.
In exchange, the partner will be able to:
- send an academic to be part of the judging panel for the finals and deliver a 1-day workshop for the finalists
- take advantage of secondary billing on promo materials including ads in print and online media
- insert brochures or publications about the institution or relevant programmes into the loot bags on the finals night (500 pcs).
- display up to two banners at the venue of the live event
- live acknowledgement as Major Partner during the finals night
- four (4) press releases on the Philippine Daily Inquirer
- a post-event feature on the Philippine Daily Inquirer when the winner returns from attending the course at the partner institution.
When necessary, British Council can arrange for local printing of collaterals, with printing cost passed on to the partners.
We would like to receive submissions of interest indicating the proposed short course or special programme for the winner. Please submit interest by 31 July 2014. For queries, you may contact Mike.Cabigon@britishcouncil.org.ph
