The British Council in Kazakhstan is offering outreach visits to Kazakhstani universities, on 28 and 29 October 2013, as an additional opportunity for those universities who are participating in the Education UK exhibition in Almaty and Astana on 26 and 27 October 2013.
The visits will help participants to explore opportunities for establishing collaboration and partnerships between UK and Kazakhstani higher education institutions (HEIs), within the context of the Government of Kazakhstan’s Academic Mobility Strategy. The visits will be organised by the British Council in collaboration with the Center for International Programs and the Centre for the Bologna Process and Academic Mobility.
A core aim of the Academic Mobility Strategy is that, by 2020, at least 20% of Kazakhstani university students should participate in some form of mobility in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), with a year-on-year increase of 50% in the number of students studying for part of their education in the EHEA. The development of sustainable partnerships with foreign universities and international organisations will be key to the realisation of this Strategy.
The outreach visits will include meetings with the senior managers and international managers of leading technical and general universities, including Karaganda State and State Technical Universities, and the Eurasian National University in Astana, We hope to include representatives of other Kazakhstani universities in each location, not just those being visited. The visits will also include briefings by the Center for International Programs and by the Centre for the Bologna Process and Academic Mobility.
The dates for the visits are 28 October 2013 (Astana) and 29 October (Karaganda).
We are offering a discounted fee to take part in the outreach visits, for participants of the 2013 Education UK Exhibition, of £ 500 plus 20% VAT per participant per visit (i.e. £ 1,000 plus 20% VAT for both outreach visits).
The fee includes: transportation Astana-Karaganda (for Karaganda), and all local transportation, lunch and coffee breaks, and interpretation (for both locations).
The fee does not include: local air tickets (eg for exhibitors travelling from Almaty), hotel accommodation in Astana and Karaganda (the British Council can book this for you), visa fees and other expenses.
The British Council’s SIEM staff will accompany participants throughout both visits.
We invite UK universities to take part in these outreach visits and to suggest any topics of special interest / any areas for partnership building in the humanities and engineering (technical, science) fields, that they would particularly like to be discussed. Please send such suggestions to SIEM@kz.britishcouncil.org by Friday 16 August.
