Introduction

Funded by Study UK, the webinars aim to showcase the UK expertise with Chinese student and young professional in STEM fields.

STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects are popular among outbound Chinese students, who are increasingly making study decisions based on their employability prospects. Young people in China are aware that STEM-related expertise can give them a competitive edge and increase their earning potential.

The UK enjoys a strong reputation in STEM education among the general public in China thanks to its first-class teaching resources and its advances in research and development. In addition, the wide range of subjects offered by UK institutions, and the fascinating career opportunities that they open, make the UK a highly attractive study destination. This has contributed to the continuous growth of Chinese students studying STEM subjects in the UK in the past few years.

Opportunity

The 2024 Study UK subject strength webinar for STEM subjects will be delivered together with academics, industry professionals and alumni, who will share their experiences in order to help prospective students gain a comprehensive understanding of STEM subjects and their career-enhancing features, and make an informed decision about their continuing education.

UK institutions are invited to nominate academics, professionals, and alumni to share excellent experiences in teaching and career services also showcase the graduate outcome on related topics.

Benefits

The webinars offer a highly accessible channel for UK institutions to promote their offering to an audience of prospective students in China. We expect the webinar to reach an audience of 5,000 audiences through online live-streaming and recording, allowing participating institutions to promote their offering among Chinese students who are specifically interested in these subject areas.

Promotion of the webinar will be coordinated with the Study UK China’s social media channels including WeChat, Weibo, and RED. The webinar will also be promoted by British Council China and British Embassy social accounts.

This is an opportunity for UK institutions to showcase their STEM offering and directly engage with prospective Chinese students, raising the institution's profile in the China market.
