The Vocational Training Council (VTC), Hong Kong’s largest vocational education provider, would like to find partners to deliver short term programmes for apprenticeship students, to take place in August 2018. The format of such a programme should be short term study + workshops + industry visits, for a duration of around three weeks. The apprentices would need student hostel / accommodation on campus.
Hong Kong apprentices are on higher diploma (HND level) or craft level programmes. Most of them are in the following programme areas:
a. Electrical & Mechanical Engineering (including Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering,Lift and Escalator Engineering, Air-conditioning and Refrigeration, Fire Services Engineering, Welding Technology & Inspection, Gas Services Engineering, Telecommunications and Surveillance Technology)
b. Construction
c. Printing
d. Retail
e. Watch and Clock
f. Automobile
g. Testing and Certification
In particular at this point in time the VTC is looking for student exchange hosts for engineering, construction, lift maintenance and automobile areas.
Institutions that can help with industry attachment in the UK (in particular for apprentices) are also welcome to get in touch. Attachments for engineering and construction apprentices who are studying Higher Diploma level would be especially helpful.

Interested universities and further education colleges please contact Steve Corry (steven.corry@britishcouncil.org.hk), by the 23rd of February with a) a brief introduction of your institution and b) experience of running similar short term student exchange programmes and how you organise these and/or short term industry placements that can be offered to international students.
Please note that due to programme schedules this needs to take place in August.
