UK universities are invited to submit expressions of interest to partner with Indonesia’s state electricity company, PLN, on their PLN Scholarship Programme.
This partnership will involve hosting selected master’s and PhD scholars, as well as participants on short courses, who will be fully funded by PLN and the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP).
Background
PLN has a core focus on the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. As a key player in Indonesia’s journey towards its net zero ambitions, PLN is gradually transitioning from high-carbon power generation to more sustainable technologies, while supporting the country’s economic growth.
To help achieve this goal, PLN plans to send 15 per cent of its 55,000 employees to pursue postgraduate studies (master’s or PhD) or to participate in short courses over a seven-year period from 2023 to 2030. This educational initiative will be funded through a combination of scholarships provided by PLN and other sources, such as the LPDP.
