The School of International Education (SIE) under Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) is looking for UK partners to collaborate in following initiatives:

  1. Articulation agreements (2+2) of its current training programmes in following subject areas: Electronic communications; Information system design and management; Mechatronics; Information Technology; Software Engineering; Computer Science; Commerce; Business Administration.
  2. Develop a new joint-training articulation programme (2+2; 3+1 or 4+0) in Fashion Design. Collaboration activities can start from this school year 2016/2017.

  • Have an opportunity to build their brand among 1500 Vietnamese students who are studying at different programmes of SIE
  • Develop a long-standing partnership with HUST, one of the first and leading Vietnamese technical universities and a reliable partner for many foreign prestigious universities. This relationship can be expanded to other research and exchange partnership programmes in the future with HUST.

Areas of responsibilities for the two collaborating parties

Responsibilities of SIE:

  1. For articulation agreements (2+2) of its current training programmes in certain subjects as mentioned above, SIE will:
  • Share outline of the training programmes including course content design, teaching approaches, entry requirements...and other information required by UK partners for curriculum mapping
  • Be responsible for logistics arrangement for students who want to transfer to UK partners (provide study results transcript, deliver pre-departure briefings, support in UK visa applications…)
  1. For the new joint-training articulation programme in Fashion Design, SIE will:
  • Be responsible for designing the programme together with the School of Textile, Leather and Fashion of HUST and UK partners
  • Gain approval for the joint training programme from the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) Vietnam
  • Provide qualified teaching staffs, teaching and learning premises, recruitment and logistics arrangement
  • Provide support in the quality assurance of the joint programme

Responsibilities of UK partners:

  1. For articulation agreements (2+2) of SIE’s current training programmes in certain subjects as mentioned above, UK institutions will be expected to:
  • Review the training programmes outlines provided by SIE to see if they can map the curriculum with their owns in relevant subjects
  • Agree with SIE on entry requirements for students to study the rest 2 years at their institutions in relevant subjects
  • Provide preparatory guidance for Vietnamese students at SIE on studying at their institutions
  1. For the new joint-training articulation programme in Fashion Design, UK partners will be expected to:
  • Contribute to the curriculum design
  • Provide teachers training to Vietnamese teachers of this course at HUST (if necessary)
  • Provide quality assurance for the programme

Please note that the current Fashion Design course delivered by HUST focus on training practical skills and knowledge to meet the requirement of textile and garment companies in Vietnam. Curriculum description can be provided to UK institutions who are interested.

 

Brief introduction of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), and its School of International Education (SIE):

HUST was established in 1956 and has been considered the first and the leading technical university in Vietnam. Currently, HUST contains 17 schools, 3 faculties, 8 research institutes and 4 research centres with 2,100 university employees, 30,000 undergraduate and 5,000 graduate students. HUST has established long-term cooperative activities in training and scientific research with more than 250 partners from 35 countries and territories all over the world.

SIE was founded by the President of HUST in 2009 and has become one of the leading Vietnamese schools offering tertiary education in collaboration with international universities. SIE conducts programmes at undergraduate and post-graduate levels for subject areas of Computer and IT, Mechatronics, Telecommunications and Business Administration. Its partner universities come from UK, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Japan, USA…For the past 14 years, around 4,000 students have enrolled in SIE’s programmes, of whom 400 students have transferred to partner universities, 2,000 students graduated and 350 receiving masters.
