International schools that provide a foreign primary or secondary education curriculum, such as the International Baccalaureate, are being encouraged to set up in Singapore as part of a new provision of 30 year lease contracts to encourage high-quality international education.

Foreign System Schools (FSS) are welcomed by the government for their ability to provide for the various educational needs of children of international workers, and they also encourage international businesses to make the decision to set up in Singapore.

These leases will be made available after the outcome of a Request-For-Interest (RFI) exercise that the Economic Development Board (EDB) - which oversees the Council for Private Education, Monetary Authority of Singapore, Ministry of Education and Singapore Land Authority - is launching over the next few days.

Previous RFI events have resulted in Dulwich College and GEMS Education opening their campuses. Existing and new FSS can apply for the new leases.

Evaluations will include the quality of the proposal, track record, the ability to meet market demand, and financial capacity. Further details on the evaluation criteria and RFI sites will be made at a closed-door briefing on 5 May, at 4pm, at The Treasury Auditorium.#
