Summary

A top comprehensive university in Yunnan Province is seeking a UK university with the capacity to design, deliver and manage 21-day study and research programmes for a group of 16 Chinese university teachers. The training programmes should focus on either Inquiry Teaching in Small Classes or Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education.

The programmes should take place in 2019 at a suitable time for both partners. An official delegation led by the vice president of the university will pay a visit to the UK in early October 2018 to meet the selected partners and consolidate the partnerships.

Background

As part of the World Class university development plan, starting from 2019, the Chinese university plans to send 60 key university teachers abroad to study and undertake training over the next three years.

Objectives

  • to learn how professors and faculties at UK universities prepare, teach and assess their courses
  • to improve teaching methodology, research capability and international communication skills

Programme details

  • Length: 21 days
  • Cohort: 16 teachers
  • Language of delivery: English
  • Content: course design and analysis, teaching and research methodology in either of the below
    1) Inquiry Teaching in Small Classes
    2) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education

Participants

Each cohort consists of 16 university teachers who are selected based on the following criteria:

  • hold PhD degree or the title of associate professor 
  • have more than two years’ experience as teachers with strong teaching ability and good knowledge of the subject areas
  • outstanding teaching and research performance with good development potential 
  • good level of English proficiency
