Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NUPT) is looking for a UK university partner to develop and deliver joint programmes in the fields of engineering and information technology, with a view to recruiting up to 100 undergraduate and up to 50 postgraduate students each year starting in September 2017.

NUPT is interested in developing joint programmes in the below subject areas:

Undergraduate level (4+0 or 3+1):

  • Management Science and Engineering

Postgraduate level (2.5+0 or 1.5+1):

  • Communication and Information Systems

  • Computer Application Technology
  • Software Engineering
  • Business Administration
  • Management Science and Engineering

The UK partner will have the opportunity to:

  • build a long-term partnership with a leading university in East China, with scope for this partnership to expand in the future

  • receive financial reimbursement for their support, to be further negotiated with NUPT

Areas of responsibility for the two collaborating parties

The selected UK partner will be expected to work with NUPT to:

  • jointly develop curriculums for the joint programmes
  • send teaching staff to teach at NUPT in Nanjing and provide support in the quality assurance of the programmes

NUPT will be responsible for:

  • promoting and recruiting students and faculty members for the programmes
  • providing qualified teaching staff as well as the required teaching and living premises and logistical support for the UK teaching staff

Brief introduction of NUPT

Established in 1942 and located in the city of Nanjing in the Yangtze River Delta, a dynamic economic zone undergoing rapid internationalisation in its higher education sector, NUPT is co-administrated by Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It has four campuses, with 21 departments, 20 research centers and 2,300 faculty members offering various education programmes to 30,000 students.

Its strengths lie in the disciplines of materials science, engineering, and chemistry, which have all entered the global top 1 per cent of the Essential Science Indicators Ranking, while it ranks among the domestic top 20 for telecommunication and information engineering, and opto-electronic engineering.

It is an academic member of the International Telecommunication Union, and in 1990, NUPT became an APT (Asia-Pacific Telecommunity) Training Center. Over the past two decades it has trained personnel from 29 countries and regions in the field of telecommunication. It has established long-term partnerships with more than 20 overseas universities and research institutes, and is involved in almost 40 international student exchange programmes.
