Opportunity
A provincial government body in Guizhou Province, Southwest China, is seeking UK universities with the capacity to design, deliver and manage a three-month-long (over 90 days) English teacher training programme. The programme will be for a group of 20 Chinese teachers from secondary and high schools of Guizhou Province and take place in the UK, preferably starting from September 2017.
Objectives
The training programme aims to learn from the UK’s expertise and improve the teaching pedagogy, methodology and international communication skills of English teachers from junior and senior secondary schools of Southwest China.

Participant profile
The majority of the teachers to be selected by the Chinese partner are expected to hold a Bachelor’s degree in English, with a few also holding Master’s degrees in English. The age of the participants is expected to be between 25 and 55.
Programme Contents
- English language skills development
- An introduction to English language learning and teaching in the UK
- Dynamic teaching methodologies and pedagogies in UK schools
- Classroom management and practical teaching skills
- Lesson planning and preparation
- Teaching resources and supports
- Observation of experienced teachers in skilful teaching
Reference for Budget
As the proposed training programme will accommodate 20 people, the cost per participant could be expected at GBP 6,000 – 7,000 , which would include tuition fees, living expenses, accommodation, cultural visits (if applicable) and local transportation (including pick up and drop off from the UK airport). This suggestion excludes the costs of international flights and a visa application.
