In partnership with AGCAS (The Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services), The British Council China is organising the third careers advisers’ workshop to be held in London on 25 October 2012.

During the past decade, we have witnessed a great change in China’s graduate market for overseas returnees. With the rapid development of the economy, the competition between local students and overseas returnees has become very intense. Therefore, preparation for a successful career has to be taken from an early stage. In recent years there has also been a growing trend in the number of British students exploring employment opportunities in China. It is important that students from the UK wishing to work in China have a realistic understanding of the employment market there.

The British Council China is committed to enhancing the employability and competitiveness of Chinese and British graduates from UK universities who are looking for employment in China. Our speakers have rich experience in human resources and graduate recruitment in China and they will share their insights on the needs and demands of employers in China. We hope this workshop will help our UK colleagues to better understand China’s competitive job market and the recruitment strategy of China’s employers. The workshop aims to provide practical operational information in order to improve services for Chinese and British students and further improve your institution’s profile and graduate careers development record.

Speakers are:

  • Dr Lei Lin, HR Director of Microsoft China (R&D)
  • Dr Jenny Yan, Senior Director of HP University, HP China
  • Mr Philip Zheng, Senior HR Director, Baidu.com
