Brief introduction of Art Study Education Institution
The Art Study Education Institution is an official institution of national renown affiliated with Guangdong province’s Department of Culture. Each year, it trains nearly 40,000 students across China in the arts of dancing, painting, singing and playing musical instruments. Its mission is to provide vocational training of the highest national standards to adults and young learners, while helping them to achieve a balance between tradition and cutting-edge modernity.
Thanks to experienced teachers and distinguished alumni, including famous dancers, painters and musicians in Asia, the Art Study Education Institution enjoys a strong reputation in China. It has organised performances, contests and training programmes in other countries, including the US, Singapore and South Korea.
Opportunity
The Art Study Education Institution is interested in collaborating with UK institutions to expose its students and teachers to the UK’s expertise in the arts, and share its own experience.
It is seeking a UK provider for two programmes in 2015:
1. A teacher training programme for 20-30 teachers, focusing on dance and music.
2. A summer training programme for 50-100 young learners, covering all of the above subjects.
Expectations for the teacher training programme
Morning sessions:
- training courses on dance and music
Afternoon and evening sessions:
- discussion forums to enable Chinese teachers to understand and learn about the differences between the Chinese and UK approach to teaching
- workshops to explain to international recruitment staff the process of applying for undergraduate, postgraduate and professional development courses in the UK
- visits to institutions famous for dance and music
Ideally, the training programme should be delivered in early May and last for a week or up to 10 days. Course leaders should have at least two years of teaching experience, with a background in the arts. Accommodation should be provided on site.
An interpreter will be needed for the programme, but this can be arranged by the Art Study Education Institution if necessary.
Expectations for the summer training programme
Details for this programme will be decided following completion of the teacher training programme.
UK institutions interested in this opportunity should contact davisson.li@britishcouncil.org.cn, providing a quotation and a sample programme by 10/04/2015. Please note the British Council will charge 15 per cent of the final programme price as management fee.
