In response to the growing demand for international education in China and strong interest in collaborating with the UK, the British Council will organise a tour of the UK schools sector for 10 Chinese head teachers of private international schools between 28 November and 2 December 2016. This will include visits to up to six independent schools across the UK, and participation in a UK-China Head Teacher Forum and a UK-China Education Fair.

Background

Currently, there are around 360 private international schools in China, and this number is estimated to reach more than 500 by 2020, making it a rapidly growing sector. In China, private international schools have become an important starting point for students to study abroad. According to a survey by the British Council in 2016, there is strong demand among private international schools in China to enter into partnerships with UK independent schools and to jointly engage in curriculum development and establish exchange programmes for students and teachers.

Opportunity

This will be a great opportunity for UK independent schools to meet with Chinese head teachers representing the private international school sector in China, and establish partnerships and raise awareness of their educational offerings with a view to attracting more students from partnered Chinese schools. UK independent schools are invited to participate in this year’s programme by hosting visits and by joining the UK-China Head Teacher Forum and UK-China Education Fair.

Participation Fee

  • £100          to attend the UK-China Head Teacher Forum and UK-China Education Fair
  • £400          to arrange a visit by the delegation to your school/college
