The British Council would like to invite all UK institutions to attend an Education Market Update and Networking Evening in Beijing. The event is aimed at bringing participating institutions up to date with an overview of China’s education market and current trends. It will provide insights into specific areas of education, with speakers from the British Council and other education experts. The event will conclude with an opportunity to network over drinks and food.
Riding the China Wave: Is your institution making the most out of China’s outbound study growth?
According to recent data from the Home Office, UK visa issuance to Chinese students leapt by 9.6 per cent in 2015, while visas issued to students from the rest of the world in 2015 fell by over 8 per cent on average. With China now accounting for 36 per cent of UK study visas issued globally, a clear mantra is emerging: as China goes, so goes the sector. So how can UK institutions make the most of the growing China market? How might they cope with a slowdown in Chinese student mobility in the future?
To address these questions, the British Council would like to invite all UK institutions to attend an Education Market Update and Networking Evening in Beijing on Friday 21 October 2016. The event will explore strategies for UK institutions to calibrate their offers to students’ needs and maintain strong recruitment in the face of China’s improving domestic education and slowing economic growth. Speakers will explore China’s increasing emphasis on employability, examining how UK institutions can capitalise on this trend, through provisions such as post-study support and careers counselling, as well as proactive engagement with alumni. We encourage all UK institutions to share this invitation with their representative offices in China.
We look forward to welcoming you to this event.
