About the competition
British Council works with UK institutions to position the UK as an attractive study destination. The British Council UK Summer School competition 2016-17, the third time running, will allow five Hong Kong secondary school and college students to attend a summer school in the UK. The competition will be in a creative media format, judged by some high profile Hong Kong personalities. Representatives from participating institution will be invited in the selection process.

The competition is sponsored by Emirates, supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO).
 

ACTION REQUIRED
British Council Hong Kong would like to invite five institutions in the UK with HTS to sponsor and host the five winning Hong Kong secondary school students during summer 2017.

The participating institutions should be able to:

  • offer one place of study with residential accommodation, for free, to one student winner at their summer course, between June and August 2017
  • confirm with the winner the summer school place of study between February and March 2017 and accommodation before June 2017
  • able to provide academic and residential support for students under 18, (preference will be given to those who accept students aged 16 or above)

  • media coverage on the competition and student reflections post-event
  • a high profile awards ceremony
  • word-of-mouth promotions by the summer school ambassadors
