The British Council China is writing to inform you of a new project that we are now formally receiving applications from UK universities – Sino-UK Higher Education Collaboration on Architectural Design for Industrial Heritage.

This project is a British Council's initiative under our Internationalizing Higher Education Program, partnering with the Architectural Society of China, one of the most important academic organizations under the Ministry of Housing and Rural-Urban Development of China. We have enrolled six high prestigious Chinese universities which are famous for their architectural majors into this project and are looking for six UK universities which would have interests in UK/China Higher Education Collaboration in the area of architectural/urban/industrial heritage design. The six Chinese universities include:

  • School of Architecture of Tsinghua University
  • School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture
  • School of Architecture and Urban Planning of North China University of Technology
  • School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Beijing University of Technology
  • School of Civil Engineering of Beijing Jiaotong University
  • School of Architecture of China Central Academy of Fine Arts

The highlight of this project is that we will use a famous real case of Beijing – the Capital Steel Industrial District, as the topic for the practical task. We believe that it will be a great opportunity for students to practice a real case like this under an intercultural environment.
