The British Council are delighted to announce three dates for International Student Support Welfare Workshops in October 2019 and we are now looking for guest speakers to deliver these interactive sessions.

These workshops are intended to highlight the specific issues international students face and build the necessary skills to support their transition into academic life within the UK.

Relevant workshop topics may include:

  • Planning ahead with visas
  • Pre-departure checklists
  • Finding accommodation
  • Money and costs
  • Safety and security on and off campus
  • Supporting mental health
  • Student wellbeing.

We request proposals for 1-hour interactive sessions, using video, and case studies where possible.

The locations and dates for the workshops are:

  • London - 4 October 2019
  • Edinburgh - 9 October 2019
  • Manchester - 23 October 2019

Different UK locations have been selected to enable local student welfare experts to network with and share best practice in international student support with their neighbouring institutions. This is an opportunity for UK institutions including universities, colleges, independent schools and language schools to showcase their best practice in supporting the mental health, safety and well-being of international students while studying at their institution.

Please complete the attached proposal template and return to Linda McCourt by Friday 26 July.
