A client of British Council Mexico is looking for a University in the UK to provide a programme for a group of about 10 International Business students (B1 – B2) that includes English lessons, seminar(s) and professional practices.

Students are expected to have 5 hours of English per week.

Seminars should be about any topic regarding International Business. Please provide some examples of specific topics to be considered and course duration (hours).

The most important part must be the professional experience in which students should develop a journal speaking about their day to day experience. Working at companies is preferred over working at the university; but if a detailed plan is provided, it will be considered.  Working should represent half of the time spent (between 4 and 5 hours daily).

The aim of this course is an academic enhancement and international professional and student experience.

At this stage, we are seeking validation that this is of interest to UK HEIs and gain an understanding of how feasible it could be in terms of alignment to UK HE priorities and budget requirements.

To achieve this, we are seeking Expressions of Interest that include a brief response to the following questions:

  1. The programme should last for about seventeen weeks: Between the beginning of February and the end of May 2020. Do you have any concerns about this?
  2. Would you be able to provide accommodation for the whole course?
  3. Would you be able to assess English upon the beginning and end of the course?
  4. Would you be able to arrange professional practices for each student?
  5. Would you be able to have a staff member following up on their professional experience through the whole course?
  6. How many hours will students spend on the seminar? Both in-class and after class.
  7. Do you have experience with this type of intervention?
  8. Considering a group of 10 people, what is the approximate cost per person you would be able to offer?
  9. Does provide 8 or 10 weeks, of course, will make any difference in the organization of the course?
  10. What’s the minimum and the maximum number of students your university will be able to receive regarding the course and accommodation?
  11. Would you be able to offer any special discount for outstanding students to access your Master or PhD Programmes? If yes, do you have an approximate percentage?
  12. Do you have any other suggestions, concerns or thoughts on the opportunity?

Proposals should be sent to Pia Reategui (pia.reategui@britishcouncil.org) by no later than 12 October 2019. Subject line: “Call for Expression of Interest – Hosting a group of International Business students in their third year for a semester”.

Due to the high volume of submissions we receive, we are unable to provide feedback on individual proposals.
