British Council Nigeria invites interested UK institutions to our 2019 partnerships forum. This inward mission will provide UK institution representatives with the opportunity to meet with strategic sector and higher education institution representatives to explore viable partnerships opportunities.

Over the last three years, Nigeria’s higher education sector has witnessed significant shifts in its landscape. One of the most critical changes include the strategic review of the university system. The exercise, headed by the National Universities Commission (NUC), has led to the development of a 5 year roadmap which seeks to address issues around quality, access and relevance and support the revitalization of the Nigerian university system. A significant theme emerging from this exercise is recognition of the need to create an enabling environment for the mutual exchange of knowledge through the mechanism of international partnerships.

The British Council, working in partnership with critical stakeholder groups, offers interested institutions the opportunity to join its pilot inward partnership mission in Nigeria. The mission provides an opportunity for institutions interested in SSAs largest international education market to:
• meet with key HE stakeholders;
• learn from and get further clarity about the regulatory/operational environment and identify priority areas in HE at both policy and practice levels
• position for future opportunities, build strategic relationships and learn about the policy changes on the horizon.
