Supporting Connections in English Language Teaching (ELT) Research and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Travel Grant (China – Call for Applications

Call for Applications is open to the UK institutions.

The British Council English Programmes (China) is pleased to announce its call for applications for ‘Supporting Connections in ELT’ travel grants of up to £5,000 per applicant to support the development of relationships and connections between the UK and China partners currently, or soon to be, engaged in UK-China partnerships within areas of English Language Teaching (ELT) or English Teacher CPD, particularly in basic education contexts.

In particular, the grants are intended to support projects or programmes that can identify potential long-term, sustainable impact and outcomes, and where the impact and reach have the potential to upscale and expand beyond the initial project scope. This award is specifically intended to support UK recipients travel to China for face-to-face engagement.

EMaDa Project: Exploring Teaching Methodologies for ICT in K-12 ELT Classrooms – Call for Application

Call for Applications is open to UK institutions.

The British Council China is now inviting grant applications from UK organisations for a China-UK partnership researching pedagogical needs in the application of new information technologies in K-12 English classrooms in China. This project is intended to generate outputs that are contextually relevant, scalable and of significance at a national level, and can contribute to the greater access and effectiveness of high-quality CPD (Continuous Professional Development) resources for English teachers and teacher researchers interested in ICT (Information and Communications Technology) for ELT (English Language Teaching) in China.

This Call offers a unique opportunity to:

  1. explore pedagogical needs related to the application of new information technologies in K-12 English classrooms in China.
  2. collaboratively develop relevant content for inclusion within a nationally accessible MOOCs on ICT for ELT to address identified pedagogical gap(s).

Opportunity 3

English-medium Education in Higher Education (EMHE) China Research Partnership Grant – Call for Application

Call for Application is open to the UK institutions.

The British Council is pleased to announce its call for applications for a grant of up to £30,000 to support research into the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) needs of teachers/ lecturers in English-medium in higher education (EMHE) contexts within China. Through this grant we aim to facilitate the production of high-quality academic research that explores and identifies specific development needs of EMHE teachers in different disciplines. From insight gained a secondary output of practical utility and/or useful reference to teachers in guiding their CPD journey is also required. It is expected that the secondary output will offer a starting point for future local CPD material development that supports teachers in EMHE contexts.
