With growth in Chinese outward mobility forecast to slow down over the next five years and the Chinese national government pushing for the development of its own world-class universities, the student recruitment market is becoming increasingly competitive. This means developing a clear and cohesive marketing strategy for China is vital for all UK institutions.
In order to address the latest developments in China’s education market, analyse recent government policy, and offer insights into developing a comprehensive marketing strategy, the British Council would like to invite UK education institutions to attend an education market update and networking evening in Beijing on Saturday 21 October 2017. The session will coincide with the launch of the China Education Expo.
In addition to the British Council providing a market update, external speakers will be invited to share their professional advice on two key areas of successful marketing: social media marketing and media management.
Social media marketing – Zheng Yong – Education social media founder and education reporter for Beijing Evening News, Sina.com and Tencent
The rise of social media channels, such as WeChat, and the development of easy-to-use live-streaming applications, as well as many other small-scale people-to-people digital platforms has seen social media become an important marketing tool for UK institutions. This presentation will look at best practice in developing attractive content and effectively managing a range of social media channels.
Media management - Meng Lei – Senior Editor, Study Abroad Magazine
Developing and managing strong media relations with key Chinese outlets is essential for UK institutions to ensure their work in China reaches the right audiences and receives the attention it deserves in order to strengthen brand awareness. This presentation will explore ways to build and nurture a network of media contacts, and utilise the media as part of an influential marketing strategy.
We encourage all UK institutions to share this opportunity with their representative offices in China, and look forward to welcoming you to the event.
