We are pleased to inform you that the British Council’s ‘Study UK: Preparing for Work’ massive open online course (MOOC) will be running again from 17 February and is now open for registration. This free online course is designed to support your international final-year students, graduates and alumni with their transition from study to work. The first run of this online course in November 2019 attracted more than 3,000 highly engaged participants from 137 countries.

Hosted on FutureLearn, the ‘Preparing for Work’ online course equips participants with the skills they need to present themselves to prospective employers and navigate the global employment market. The online course is free and is designed to run over a two-week period starting on 17 February 2020, although participants can complete it in their own time, so long as they register by midnight GMT on 12 April 2020.

Participants will learn how to evaluate their strengths, develop their professional image, and articulate the value of their UK education and the skills and experience they have acquired in the UK. It will help them to write effective CVs and cover letters, prepare for interviews, and devise a career plan, as well as find and apply for suitable employment opportunities. Participants will also gain an understanding of practical skills, such as how to build a network and work effectively in different cultural contexts.

We hope you find this course to your liking and that it will support your institution’s international student and graduate outcomes.

The ‘Preparing for Work’ MOOC is now open for registration and starts on 17 February 2020. Please encourage your international students, graduates and alumni to register by 12 April 2020.
