The US enrolled a record number of international students during the 2013-14 academic year, welcoming nearly 900,000 undergraduate and graduate students, according to the 2014 Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange, jointly issued by the Institute of International Education and the US Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Much of the growth comes from China, which sent nearly 275,000 students to study in the US last year, 16.5 per cent more than in the previous year. With 31 per cent of all international students in the US, China is the top source of international students in the US, a position it has retained for the past five years.
