Plans are underway for the development of the Philippine Academy for Sports under a public-private partnership scheme. The Academy is envisioned to be the training center for coaches and offer a curriculum that will lead to a career pathway for athletes. Leeds Metropolitan University was chosen to develop the coaches’ education program and sports curriculum under a two-year consultancy agreement sponsored by the British Council for the development of the Academy. The Academy is set to open in two years. Writes Joaquin Henson for The Philippine Star.
