“The initiative of British Council is very helpful and I expect that British Council will be with us in future as well.” – delegate feedback The ever popular School’s Mission programme was recently concluded in Dhaka and Chittagong across 8 local institutions, of which half were English Medium Schools (tuition provider for O/A level qualifications) and others private universities. The UK institutions spent two- hours in each local institution interacting with over 1200 students and the mission took place through a table-top format. The purpose of the visit was to raise the portfolio of local institutes to UK institutions, by providing direct information to students and their parents on participating UK universities trough face to face interactions. The programme helps to increase awareness on UK institutions amongst Bangladeshi students and to develop partnerships with renowned schools and universities in Bangladesh. Last year, the first time we held a schools mission, we held it in Dhaka only. Encouraged by the positive response there, we decided to include Chittagong this time. At each local institute, the delegates conducted informal meetings with career counsellors and also answered general queries from the students on scholarship opportunities, visa issues, entry requirements, and other associated costs in UK. BPP University, Coventry University, Middlesex University, University of Bradford, University of Southampton and University of South Wales were the participating UK institutions.
