The FCO have updated their travel advice for Nepal on 3 July to reflect the current situation in the country. Most of the damage from the earthquakes was restricted to the central region of Nepal. This includes Kathmandu and 7 nearby districts. In Kathmandu, most infrastructure that supports connectivity and trade were relatively unaffected including roads, mobile phone connections, banks and ATMs. Almost all of the Five-Star Hotels in Kathmandu have been deemed safe to inhabit post- quake, except the Everest Hotel which will require renovations. More importantly, schools have reopened and there is a general air of positivity with people now returning to their normal daily lives.

In light of this, our events that are planned for September onwards are confirmed and we will be moving ahead on schedule. We begin with the Schools Mission which is set to begin on 5 September from Kathmandu. A limited number of places are available; please click here for further details.

A second schools tour has also been launched this year for Branch Campuses, Joint Ventures and TNE partners of UK institutions. This is planned for the third week of September.

Further down the year, we will be conducting a tour of business schools in Kathmandu with the objective of post-graduate recruitment as well as partnership building with local institutions.

If your institution is interested to participate in any of these programmes, please write to Abhinav at abhinav.shakya@britishcouncil.org.np.
